Ateneo de Davao at the 9th Iligan City Computing Fair

Student representatives from the Computer Studies Division bagged awards in several categories at the recently concluded 9th Iligan City Computing Fair last September 21 to 23, 2011.

Reinald Kim Amplayo and Marc Oliver Lua landed the Champion position in the Open Programming Competition while Yancy Paredes and Felicia Rose Garcia took first runner up in the same category. John Kevin Go and Richard Alan Lao took the Champion slot in the Quiz Show – College Category while Aljohn Mangahas and Melvin Loquero got the first runner up spot.

Meanwhile, Ralph de la Cerna took 7th place in the Digital Arts Competition, and Akira Asano and Alfred Jett Grandeza took 11th place in the Computer Hardware Servicing Competition.

Coaches for the teams were Marian Kirstie Sanchez, Sheila Dawn Nisperos, and Stony Freires.

Software Freedom Day 2011

Software Freedom Day 2011We’re all set for Software Freedom Day 2011, and have we got plenty of activities in store for students and guests on Saturday, September 17.

As we did last year, we’re going to have short user-friendly talks meant to introduce people to fascinating free software projects. Response to our call for presenters has been overwhelming: this year, we’ve expanded our roster to include more industry professionals AND students from other universities.

All activities will be held at the 6/F Finster Building, home of the Computer Studies Division.
